**Discuss reasons for applying to the BSN-to-DNP Nurse Anesthesia program at the University of Miami and how it fits into personal, educational, and professional goals.** :
My reasons for applying to nurse anesthesia school: I am always looking to advance my knowledge in nursing/grow in my profession–> in which I have done all 4 years I have been a nurse and even before I became a nurse. –> I graduated high school with my associate’s degree, I completed nursing school while playing college soccer, I have worked in Medical ICU/ Surgical ICU, Pediatric ICU/ Cardiac-pedi ICU, I am a preceptor, and I also work as a charge nurse when needed. It is important for me to be an active member in the career of nursing and earn the highest degree possible in my desired specialty. When I was younger, I was in and out of hospitals for years with stomach issues. During one of the many procedures I had done, my post anesthesia recovery care was extremely anything but stable. I almost did not wake up from the anesthesia- it was extremely terrifying. But, when I did wake up, I distinctly remember the care that I received from the nurses, CRNA, and doctors. Still to this day, I remember thinking, even as a young little girl, “wow, I want to take care of sick people the way I was just taken care of. and do everything in my power to prevent any mistakes/bad outcomes happening to a patient. I absolutely love being able to take care of sick children. They are so resilient and strong- it inspires me. This inspiration has only grown since I started working in the PICU. A few months ago, I was taking my patient to our cardiac operating room to have open heart surgery- and that is when I instantly fell in love with the idea of me becoming a CRNA. I had been in OR’s before, but something was different that time. I started shadowing CRNA’s and anesthesiologists after that day. I know that acceptance into this program will be the most challenging thing I have come across in my career- but that is what I desire for and what I am prepared for.
attached I have my resume to help for some guidance about when I write about my advancement all throughout my life. thank you so much!!!!
