Discuss how you break through barriers of competency and complexity.
ANSWER THE ABOVE DISCUSSION AND THEN REPLY TO THE 2 DISCUSSIONS EXPLAINING WHY YOU AGREE.
DISCUSSION #1
There were a few things that worked in the reading here. One of the biggest points is to not panic. Take some time and ask some questions. Do we need to change our structure? Has the culture shifted away from us? Do we need to retrain on leadership skills? Where is our cap? Are we simply just addicted to growth? When you can find honest answers to those questions, you can start to figure out what the proper solution going forward is going to be.
As I see it you really need to make sure that you have the right people in the right positions helping your company or church to move forward. You need to make sure that the parameters of your organization are not limiting you (i.e. having a congregation of over 3000 have a popular vote on everything). You need to make sure, that if this is the cap, that you are ready to settle in and work on maintaining what you have. You know that old saying, “a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.” It is better to see the way ahead clearly rather than smacking your way through. This is how you lose customers/patrons.
DISCUSSION #2
The three reflective questions in the reading are great references to use on how to figure out how I can break through barriers of competency complexity. Every day, when I have free time I research, new skills that I can learn that will enhance my knowledge of how the world is moving. So, if I was to apply for a new job, I would already know the requirements for me to know to get hired. Organizational structure, how the organization is running, I would change certain roles for certain positions. Lastly, blindsided by culture shifts, that’s why a company trainer shall always be available to organize training course.
