Discuss clinical implications: how readily your findings can and should be implemented into practice.

May 22, 2021
Christopher R. Teeple

For this project you will write a “Critically Appraised Topic” (CAT) manuscript. I have attached a template for the correct layout as well as the 4 articles you will use to answer the clinical focused questions.
1. I have already written the introduction/clinical scenario and provided it as a document
2. Focused Clinical Question: Will neuromuscular training reduce the occurrence of lower limb injuries in adult female athletes?
3. For the search strategy portion, make sure to identify the search terms, databases used, inclusion criteria, and exclusion criteria for the 4 selected articles.

Can be a bulleted format and will include Figure 1 (attached as a document and needs to be filled out)
1. Databases used included:
2. Studies published within the last 5 years
3. Studies needed to include ______intervention/treatment/strategy
4. Studies needed to include _______population
5. Research must have included the following outcome measures:
6. Studies were excluded if:
4. For the evidence quality assessment portion (brief paragraph, you will appraise the quality of evidence discovered and address the internal validity (determine cause & effect) and external validity (ability to generalize results) of evidence.

Identify which scale was used and assign a SORT (strength of recommendation) score for each study. You will use the Pedro scale for each article. I have attached a copy of this scale. For each article: greater than 6= high quality, 4-5= fair quality, and 0-3= poor quality.
5. For the results of search portion (approximately 1 paragraph), you will summarize & report
1. Synthesis of findings from the evidence to answer the focused clinical question
2. Search strategy; reference figure 1 (attached as a document and needs to be filled out by you)
3. Key findings: discuss the results of your selected studies (identifying the commonalities and/or significant differences reported in the results of the 4 studies being reported ; reference table 1 (attached as a document and needs to be filled out by you)
6. For the results of evidence quality assessment portion (approximately 1 paragraph), provide a brief review of strengths/weaknesses of evidence and a brief summary of the evidence score quality you gave for each article (instructions on how to do this are provided as a document) and justify why you gave this score. Reference table 1 for readers to gather additional information
7. For the clinical bottom line portion (approximately 2-3 paragraphs), you will provide the reader with the answer to the focused clinical question based upon the synthesis of appraised evidence collected (4 articles included)

1. Provide overall strength of recommendation (SORT grade) based upon a synthesis of the 4 articles findings
2. Discuss clinical implications: how readily your findings can and should be implemented into practice.
8. For the implications for practice, education, & future research portion (approximately 5-7 paragraphs in length)

1. Implications for practice: provide a cohesive analysis of the research results, you can incorporate other research articles to further back up your analysis. Also, discuss what the results mean clinically and strategies for implementing
2. Implications for education: How your findings could and should impact our professional education (should there be a change in educational delivery? Should there be a change in teaching strategies? Should there be a change in continuing education? Do changes even need to be made?) Make sure to justify why any changes should be made.
3. Implications for future research: Identify how future research can help to better answer the clinical research question. Provide suggestions for research strategies based upon what you were able to find, or not find, when you were researching the answer to the clinical question (i.e. utilize a different population, different intervention, length of intervention). Make sure to be very specific with your particular recommendations.
