DZ 6.1 is the first part of DZ6 which together with DZ6.2, and DZ6.3 will lead you to DZ6.4. If you want – you can start working on one storymap and keep adding and editing it.
The purpose of this project is to make sure your never become a Digital Zombie, and that you recognize and stay aware from all the traps that digital zombies walk into.
In the next couple of weeks, you are going to think about the components of history – primary sources and the secondary sources and analyses that experts use – for a specific part of history you are interested in. The purpose of this is to get you to know one little corner of history so well that you could expertly create a little lie about it. You will then make a fake primary source and lie about how and where you found it, and you will present how it changes the existing interpretation of history.
Here are some ground rules and suggestions to succeed in this lie:
In order to lie well, you need to have a good sense of what you are lying about.
You should be reasonably familiar with what you are going to lie about, and how you might change common interpretation or understanding of it.
You cannot change the outcome, but you can ‘find” new evidence that might shed new light on the event, So – for example – Lincoln dies (you can’t change the outcome) – but you can “find” evidence that sheds new light on the Lincoln presidency as a whole.
DO NOT prepare a conspiracy theory or an alien story – neither are believable.
NO recent events – this is a history class so your research needs to be at least 50 years in the past.
