DIRECTIONS: This assignment is to help you think critically about memory. Review the different aspects and types of memory in Chapter 7 so that you have a good enough understanding to reflect on the questions presented here. Once you’ve done that, complete the following. Each question is worth 2 points. Please, evaluate your work against the Rubric for Assignments located in the Modules before submitting.
1. Imagine that a pharmaceutical company has developed a new “perfect memory” pill, and it is being endorsed by one of your favorite celebrities/social influencers. They claim that the pill has no negative side effects, and it is relatively inexpensive to buy. Would you take the pill? Why or why not? Be sure to name and explain why you chose that particular celebrity/social influencer. If you didn’t name one, explain why.
2. Imagine that a team of psychologists has developed a new “perfect memory” diet and exercise regimen, and it is being endorsed by another one of your favorite celebrities/social influencers. They claim that following this regimen strictly will give you “perfect memory within 30 days.” Would you follow the regimen? Why or why not? Be sure to name and explain why you chose that particular celebrity/social influencer. If you didn’t name one, explain why.
3. After you have answered #1 and #2, go to the end of Chapter 1 and review section, Psychology and Your Skill Set: Information Literacy. Did either of your responses reflect any of the six ways to think critically about information? If so, which ones did you consider? If not, which ones do you think you will pay more attention to in the future?
DIRECTIONS: Statistics in psychology is a branch of mathematics focused on the collection and analysis of data involving the science of behavior and mental processes. Statistics are useful in psychology because they help a psychologist to determine what is typical or normal for a particular group, such as the average deviation IQ, which was discussed in Chapter 9. The mean, median, and mode are the most basic statistics referred to in psychological research. Given that information, complete the following (and it’s okay to use the internet for 1-3). Each question is worth 2 points. Please, evaluate your work against the Rubric for Assignments located in the Modules before submitting.
1. Define a statistical mean.
2. Define a statistical median.
3. Define a statistical mode.
4. Define a deviation IQ. Also, what is considered to be the average IQ score?
5. Now apply the information above to answer this question:
Five children took an IQ test. Their scores were 95, 100, 100, 105, and 110. Which of the following correctly reflects the mean, median, and mode of their IQ scores?
A. Mean = 95, Median = 95, Mode = 100
B. Mean = 100, Median = 105, Mode = 110
C. Mean = 102, Median = 100, Mode = 100
D. Mean = 105, Median = 105 Mode = 105
DIRECTIONS: Chapter 12 covered personality theories and assessments. Now you get to complete self-assessment to discover more about your own personality typology. Go to https://www.humanmetrics.com/personality/test
Links to an external site. , and click on “Take the Test.”
Once you finish the test and get to the page with your results, complete the following. Each question is worth 2 points. Please, evaluate your work against the Rubric for Assignments located in the Modules before submitting.
1. Provide your 4-letter personality typology including the percentages (these are statistics, by the way,) for each letter.
2. Give a detailed summary, with examples, about the ways in which your results reflect your true/actual personality. You must address each letter/percentage result.
