Directions for Completion:
An initial post and two replies to other students are required for completion.
Discussion posts and replies are due by Sunday, 11:59PM, of the week due and no late submissions or make-up will be accepted.
If all requirements listed below are not met, student will receive an incomplete grade for the assignment.
Initial Post Requirements:
Must answer all components of the assignment and be at least 250 words in length.
At least two APA cited references should be included in the initial post.
Answers should be primarily original responses. Direct quotes from references should be limited and/or paraphrased.
Must include at least two stimulating questions for other students to reply to. Questions must relate to the discussion post topic.
Replies to other students:
Must be at least 100 words in length.
Must answer at least two questions posed by another student.
At least one APA cited references should be included in each of your replies.

Discussion #3: Family Dynamics
Read Chapter 10: Family Dynamics in Potter and Perry (2021). Respond to the following questions based upon the chapter:
1. After reading the chapter, conduct a family assessment on yourself using Box 10.3 Family Assessment Questions (summarized below).
Family Structure
Who are the members of your family? How are they related to you?
Who lives with you?
Has anyone recently moved out of your home?
Is there anyone who doesn’t live with you whom you consider to be family?
Developmental Assessment
What transitions/changes (e.g., recent death, divorce, children leaving/returning home, new births) has your family experienced most recently?
Are there any members of your family who are having problems (e.g., difficulty in school, acute or chronic illnesses) that are currently affecting your family?
What aspects of your family do you enjoy the most?
What plans have you or your family made to care for family members who are in poor health?
Family Functioning
Describe a recent problem and how your family resolved it.
Who is the caregiver for children or older adults?
What coping strategies does your family use (e.g., exercise, avoidance, overeating, arguing)?
What are your family beliefs about health/illness, end-of-life care, and advance directives?
What does your family mean to you?
How does your family celebrate holidays, birthdays, weddings?
How do the members of your family manage their health? How do they manage care of a sick family member?
When someone is ill, who is the caregiver? Is it always the same person?
