1,000-word design proposal plus annotated UI mock-up and moodboard, worth 40% of the final module mark.
Submit a design proposal incorporating both visual and textual elements for a game designed for a specific purpose – be that to educate players about a specific topic or to inculcate in them certain ways and skills of thinking. The submission should include:
1) A written proposal for the game, including its title. The proposal must factor in the aim of the game, its context and background, and key elements such as UI design, visual style, character depiction, narrative development, gameplay mechanics, and playability. When presenting your GWAP proposal, it should consider issues such as inclusivity, diversity, and representation; key playing demographics and issues like pricing and accessibility; logistical questions including what kind of platform this game would be played on (phone, PC, console); what genre/play style (RPG, sandbox, single or multiplayer, etc.) it most reflects or resonates with.
2) A visual mood board and UI mock-up to give an idea of what the game might look like.
Use Word or PowerPoint to build your proposal, including for your visuals, but upload the submission in .pdf format. Marks will be split equally between game design and the quality of argumentation given for your design choices. While you are welcome to produce your own concept art as part of the submission, the quality of the artwork will not weigh into the overall mark.
