DIG DEEPER ASSIGNMENT GUIDELINES
Throughout this course there have been a wide variety of diverse topics addressed. For this assignment I want to pick a particular topic presented in the textbook and dig a little deeper. The topic you choose it up to you but it must be closely related to something from this course. I recommend selecting a topic that is of particular interest to you and that you are curious to learn more about. You will select at least three sources and conduct some research on your topic. One of your sources can be your textbook and at least one of the sources must be an academic or scholarly source. If you wish, one of the sources can be a film from one of the Dig Deeper optional films in the course modules. After conducting research on your topic write a reflection paper using the following guidelines. Your reflection assignment must be at least three complete pages in length (longer is generally better) and must be typed in 12 point Times New Roman font and double-spaced with regular one-inch margins. Be sure to include your sources at the end. Please turn in the assignment online via D2L. The assignment MUST be saved as a Word (.doc or .docx), RTF (.rtf), ODT (.odt) or PDF (.pdf) format ONLY. Assignments submitted in other formats will not be read and will result in zero points.
Assignment Guidelines:
Introduction summary: First briefly summarize the topic and discuss what drew you to this topic.
Reflection: Discuss in detail what you learned about this topic and what your outside sources added to your understanding of the topic. What is the scientific consensus on this topic and how do biological anthropologists treat this topic? Do you think there are misconceptions about this topic among the general public? Why?
Conclusion: Conclude your paper with a discussion of why you think this topic is important. What is the greater significance of this topic? What should students of biological anthropology know about your topic after completing this course?
