You may have noticed things that connect to the core plan on the function of history as yet more examples to support it, or as relevant comments by authors and interviewees. If so, that’s great! It means the idea is internalizing and developing breadth and depth!
In this discussion, I’m going to ask you to take these observations of yours (or go ahead and notice some now) and use them to demonstrate the importance of history. Importance is different from the function, so, to help you be mindful as you write, I’ve added a developmental question on why the teaching of history might be marginalized or even suppressed: who (or what) is put most at risk by a population with a good grasp of history?
The Assessment
