As part of your assignment for this class, you are expected to run a cost model for the SRS you create within your group. This test is associated with that assignment as indicated below. The items that are in bold type are what must be handed in for this test. Every page within your submitted document should be labeled with the number of the item in the upper right corner so that I know what I am looking at (e.g. 3a. for the small company).
The information needs to be loaded at the site (no downloads are allowed). Please take screen shots of your work to include in your assignment submittal.
1. Determine the SLOC (cost primitive) for the SRS:. ¬
The group should review the SRS and create an estimate of SLOC for the SRS. For this test, you must submit the group SLOC estimate and describe how you determined your estimate. For example, did you determine the SLOC based on past experience, by conducting a function point analysis?
2. Profile the three companies that will bid on the SRS and decide on the loaded wage all will use.
a. To run the model, you must have a profile of three different companies (small, medium and large) that will be bidding on the SRS. Depending on the profile, you will enter different Drivers in the model (e.g. experience of the programmers). List the information for each of three companies that will be used by the group, Remember profile is not the same thing as drivers. A profile may be general information about the company (e.g. revenue, size, CMMI rating, experience).
b. Decide what the loaded monthly wage amount that will be used in the model for each of the companies. They may or may not be the same. For example, a small company may pay less than a large company. Loaded monthly salary is the salary the employee is paid plus overhead. This will be “Software Labor Rates” on the template.
3. Given the SLOC and the company information agreed to by the group, run the model.
a. For the small company:
1. Print the screen of drivers that entered for the small company.
2. Print the screen of the results obtained for the nominal schedule (leaving the Time Constraint as “Nominal”) recommended by the cost model.
3. Lengthen the schedule and print the screen results. Change the Time Constraint to “Extra High” on the template to lengthen the schedule.
b. For the medium company:
1. Print the screen of Drivers that entered for the medium company.
2. Print the screen of the results obtained for the nominal schedule (leaving the Time Constraint as “Nominal”) recommended by the cost model.
3. Lengthen the schedule and print the screen results. Change the Time Constraint to “Extra High” on the template to lengthen the schedule.
c. For the large company:
1. Print the screen of Drivers that entered for the large company.
2. Print the screen of the results obtained for the nominal schedule (leaving the Time Constraint as “Nominal”) recommended by the cost model.
3. Lengthen the schedule and print the screen results. Change the Time Constraint to “Extra High” on the template to lengthen the schedule.
4. Evaluation and Conclusion.
Given the above steps that you have completed, write an evaluation and recommendation of which company should be chosen to win the contract.
