Research Paper Guidelines
The guidelines below are to help you do well on your research paper. While they do not guarantee getting an A on the paper, they should help you do very well and answer the most common questions I get about the research paper assignment. Please remember to use subheadings similar to the ones listed below to help organize your paper. If you do not use them, points will be deducted. The paper is to be 7-10 pages double spaced. I don’t have a page limit or a word count limit so you can go over or under the recommended page numbers. In my experience people, they go under seven pages don’t cover each section in enough detail to get a good grade.
Paper needs to be baced on an aspect of Pygmalion In Managment, using the article from my class that I provided, and then 2 other articles to do with that for each article summary. Along with that in the sections titled “your opinion, and counter argument” there should be the rest of the 12 sources in there so 9 sources. also when using or quoting sources use in-text citations.
Intro: this section is to introduce the topic of your paper, defined your topic for the reader, and give a brief introduction about all the pieces of your research paper, and what you will be discussing throughout.
Article 1 summary: this section is a simple summary of the article you chose to anchor your paper to. Keep in mind that this needs to be one of the two pieces that you were assigned in class to present on. Also, keep in mind that, for each summary, the only thing you need to cite as evidence is the article itself. You do not need outside sources to summarize an article, unless you feel it is relevant. Each summary should be between a page to a page and a half in length. The longer more important parts of your paper will come after the summaries are done.
Article 2 summary: this is a summary of the second source you chose for your paper. It can be any article from any outside source. It does not need to be a purely academic source, meaning, a newspaper, or a website counts as an article or source. This also goes for any supporting resources you use throughout your paper. They do not need to be Academic sources. Keep in mind that this article as well as the next one should support or whatever the argument for your paper is. Whether you agree with the topic you chose or are against the topic you chose.
Article 3 summary: this is a summary of the second source you chose for your paper.
Your opinion: this is the most important section of your research paper. I genuinely want to get your opinion on the topic that you chose. What do you think of it? Is it good? Is it bad? How can it be used in the workplace? Any real world examples? And, I want to hear what you think on your topic. Be sure you have lots of citations from outside sources to support your opinion!
Counterargument – right about the opposite side of your opinion. This is your chance to analyze what the other side of your opinion would be..
Conclusion: this is a section that should be about a half a page in length just summarizing the overall takeaways from your paper, as well as the main thing that you want your reader to take away after reading your paper.
Works Cited: I do not care how you cite the work that you use throughout your paper. Typically people use APA or MLA, but I don’t care which one you choose. You can also provide titles and links to things like websites, that is fine as well. As long as I can find what you used and I can find it cited internally throughout your paper, then you’re all set.
