When the semester started (fall 2020), I registered for four classes and was ready to take them online(at that time, my mother was supporting our family, and I had no job). About two weeks into studying, my mom became sick with the covid. First, she has a slight temperature, and we all hoped she gets better soon. But the situation got worse. She had trouble breathing, and approximately two weeks from the day she got sick, she was hospitalized because her lunges were giving up. At that moment, I was left alone with my brother to support him and myself.

She was chained to the hospital bed for four months. I had to put myself together and find a job. It took me three weeks to find a job in the cleaning service, and for these three weeks, I had to use my mother’s savings to survive. I was working from 9 am to 6 pm to financial support my brother and myself. Additionally, I had to do all the household chores and study. At this pace, it was very hard for me to find and devote time to classes. I felt overwhelmed. For that reason, I had to withdraw(because it was too late to drop) three classes and leave only 1. After 4 months of suffering, my mother was finally released from the hospital, so I registered for 3 classes thinking that she would be able to work, and I can study. The semester started, but after some observations made by doctors, two weeks after hospital release, they concluded that her lungs are too weak to work or have any physical activity( the recovery period should be at least 6 months). I tried my best to maintain with the classes but because I had to work 6 days a week and do chores every day, I was physically and mentally exhausted. After about a month into the semester, I gave up (withdrew) from 2 classes (stayed in one class) to avoid bad grades.
Now it is fall 2021. My mother is fully recovered, which means I can start a new page in my life and be focus on my education.
