The paper should be broadly divided into three separate sections.
(1) Describe the topic being presented and how does it effect society on both a macro/micro level?
(2) How does the relevant government agency present this information and how does that differ from how relevant advocacy groups present their information?
(3) How do government and advocacy groups differ in their presentation from news agencies (both local and national news agencies)?
Discuss how these different representations are important in how the public views these issues. If the representations are all contradictory, why is that important? Similarly, if they are all similar, why is that important? (i.e. How does the presentation of Climate Change by Greenpeace differ from how the government portray climate change differ from how it is presented in the media).
This is a chance for students to take concepts learned in lecture and readings and apply them in a written assignment. I do not expect a deep analysis of different issues, instead show me that you have an understanding of these concepts of hegemony and how they are applied in issues that we as a society face.
