Descriiption:
In Dallas Willard’s book The Spirit of the Disciplines (HarperOne, 1999), there is deep and practical teaching about the importance of the body for spiritual growth and maturity. Understanding the structure of the soul and the soul’s relationship to the body is valuable in developing a grasp of holistic spiritual growth—focusing on the soul (containing faculties of mind, spirit, will, emotions and important interactions among those faculties) and the body. And the destiny of the soul and a resurrected body for the believer is eternal life with God and those who love Him. NDEs have provided important evidence for and insights into the disembodied intermediate state. Thus, learning about these matters is of great practical value to our own lives and those of our fellow believers.

2. Describe some aspects of the soul’s relationship with the body and explain how those aspects provide a framework for viewing the importance of the body in spiritual transformation.
3. What is the best evidence for the veracity of NDEs and what is the best argument against their veracity? Where do you come down on the question of the value of NDEs in building a case for the soul and the afterlife and why do you end up with that assessment of things?
