Assessment Instrument Research Paper: In your 8-12 page research paper on an individual, couple, or group assessment instrument of your choice, you will provide a detailed analysis of the instrument characteristics including: reliability, validity, information about the sampling group upon which it was normed, and multicultural aspects of assessment. The paper must follow the APA guidelines (see Purdue Owl APA) and must be double spaced, size 12 Times New Roman Font. A minimum of 7 cited scholarly reference sources are required.

Norming and psychometric properties
Norming – how were the questions initially developed, what was the process the occurred
to reach the final product, what type of statistical procedures where used to create
sub-scales.
Psychometrics – report on reliability and validity (must include all relevant types, e.g., content validity, construct validity, test-retest reliability, split-half reliability that pertain to your chosen assessment) for total scores and any sub-scale scores.
Sample characteristics
Sample size – size of total sample, size of age- or grade-level samples, inclusion of
clinical population, source of sample, sampling method used for the instrument.
Demographic characteristics – age ranges, ethnicity of norming sample, socioeconomic
status, educational levels.
Purpose of instrument
Identify the developer’s stated purpose of the instrument.
Present your views as to whether the psychometrics and norming support the stated purpose.
Utility of the instrument
Describe how “user friendly” the instrument is.
Note particular strengths and weaknesses of the measure.
Describe the clinical utility (does the result help with intervention?).
Describe any caveats or cases when using the instrument would be contraindicated.
Describe multicultural aspects of the instrument (e.g., generalizability to individuals from various cultures although the assessment may have been normed on a specific population)?
