Consider the following scenario and answer the following question in your initial response.
The crisis line records all incoming crisis calls. These calls are routinely reviewed by the program supervisor and clinical supervisor for accuracy. The clinical supervisor also reviews the calls and uses the information gathered during the call for coaching sessions with workers. As the crisis program has grown, the number of crisis workers has also grown to the point the clinical supervisor can not review all of the calls as part of her coaching with workers. She is proposing to have her administrative assistant review the calls, summarize the conversation, and provide her with a written summary of these calls. For your discussion response, consider the following:
What do you see as some of the ethical issues associated with this case? Is it ethical to listen in on clinical telephone calls and then use that information for supervision?
