Describe how your experiences, perspectives, talents, and/or your involvement in leadership activities (at your school, job, community, or within your family) will help you to make an impact both in and out of the classroom while enrolled at UT
I am usually not the type of person to take charge unless I needed to, but when I do take charge in certain situations, I make sure to give it my all. An example that I always like to bring up is about the one time I had to take charge of a volunteering event after the event leader never showed up.
When the time came for the volunteering event to start the event leader still had not shown up. Since there were not many volunteers at the event, I decided to offer my assistance as the event leader. I made sure to overlook any problems that arose during the event and made sure to be thorough with the job that I was doing. This was the first time I stepped out of my shell and decided to take on a leadership role.
Not only do I show my leadership in such events, but I also am the vice president of the Table Tennis club at my high school. As the vice president, I have the duty of performing tasks similar to what the president performs as well as taking on the role of the president when they are not available. In addition to my leadership, I have also led my team in the NASA HUNCH competition where we competed with other schools in the nation in a certain category. We collectively had a certain role as when it came to the task, they were to take charge. I played the role of generally leading the team through any broad tasks we were faced with.
As the leader of the NASA HUNCH project I lead the team in design planning of the boot.
I also was in charge of creating an agenda of what to do and how much we needed to complete on a given day.
As the vice president of the ping pong club, I was in charge of arranging tournaments and meeting for the club. On top of that, when i was a junior, I was the treasurer of the same club and was in charge of handling the expenditures of the club. I had various tasks such as buying a ping pong table and ping pong balls.
Taking on such tasks of leadership can help me better handle the pressure of college curriculum.
