1) In this week and last week’s content, we examined the role of power, social networks as well as forms of negotiation and conflict-handling. Building upon the dynamics noted in last week’s discussion, identify a personal or professional situation in which you have been more distributive or integrative. What types of power and conflict-handling styles were at play? What can you learn from the role of social networks or leadership from reading content and extended articles that can provide insight and/or from our lecture on Cialdini Persuasion tactics? Be specific by referencing our module content. End with providing two to three linkages of these learnings to your failed organization from last week such as to its leadership
2) Today’s organizations face critical challenges in terms of balancing core competencies along with the need to build for innovation. This issue (i.e., ambidexterity failure) or the need to balance exploitation with exploration represents a multi-trillion dollar problem facing companies today – and which we examined over the past two weeks. Based on your understanding of this problem and your interpretation of our Module 1 &2 background and syllabus readings, select one to two examples of failing organization. Describe how they failed in terms of ambidexterity and specific to structural, and organizational cultural considerations.
