Use scholarly sources to support your paper. And be sure to use direct quotes and examples.
In your paper be sure to address the following:
1. Describe a seminal event in your childhood involving gender. How did this event shape you and your sense of gendered self?
2. Contextualize your experience in the larger culture. How did your gendered experience reflect the social and historical events of their time and place?
3. Examine how your gendered experience reflects or/and refutes the assertions of at least one of our course readings and one scholarly source. Please do use American Psychological Association (APA) documentation style.
Please note that this paper should be viewed through the lens of our course texts and discussions. In your paper, be sure and examine how your autoethnography reflects or/and refutes the assertions of at least one of our course readings and one scholarly source. If need be, you may read ahead to find a reading that fits well with your topic.
For your paper assignment in this class, please write a minimum four full pages (typed and double spaced). Address your paper to students who are interested in gender studies and sociology, and yet have never studied these topics in a class. No late papers will be accepted. On March 31, please do bring your paper to class for the required peer review. The revised final paper will be due in class on April 7. This April 7 paper version must be revised from the March 31, peer-reviewed version. Please do turn in the revised final paper and your peer review feedback to avoid losing points on your paper grade. The paper will be graded on the following criteria: the quality of ideas and arguments, the organization and development of the paper, the autoethnographic and other evidence you offer, your use of our class reading and at least one scholarly source, the clarity and style of the writing, and the sentence structure and mechanics of the writing.
