Articulating your values and vision are the foundation for creating a personal mission statement. Watch my 5 minute video to discover how I talk about Values + Vision = Mission. This prepares you for creating a pathway forward towards your envisioned intention, which will be the subject of your capstone paper.
Write a 100-150 word post exploring these points:
Describe 3-4 values that drive you forward in life. These are your personal guiding principles. Your values can be stated in bullet points, however, use more than single a word to express a value. This way the meaning is clear.
Describe your personal vision, that is your greatest intention in life – your guiding light – the north star that drives you towards your decisions and actions. Perhaps one of your values is your north star.
Develop a personal mission statement. This is the pathway you are taking to reach your personal vision.
Here is my example:
Amy’s Values:
To meet people where they are on their journey and to help them develop the pathway to where they want to go
To act mindfully in my actions, behaviors and life choices
To treat others as I want to be treated
Amy’s Vision:
I believe that each person has the potential to make a positive impact in the world if provided with the needed resources and support.
Amy’s Mission:
To provide resources and support to help my students, clients, friends, myself articulate our greatest intention, develop a pathway forward and begin our journey to reach our fullest potential and to make a positive impact in the world.

Values:
1) To always be compassionate and understanding to those around me.
2) To keep an openmind when experiencing knew things and meeting new people.
3) To be aware of how my actions and words can impact those around me.
Vision:
I believe that by staying true to my values, respecting my peers, and having good morals, I can become the versions of myself.
Mission:
To become the best version of myself in order to achieve my educational goals, help those around me, and better myself and my family.
When I was listening to the lecture and reading the powerpoint, I was really struggling with my mission. I started thinking about what I truly want out of life and it really came down to two things. I want to be a good person and I want to have a happy and healthy family. However, in order to have a happy and healthy family, I need to be the best version of myself that I can be. I also feel as though my list of values could have gone on forever, I have so many values that I try and live by.
