Directions: Write a properly formatted APA essay of at least 6 paragraphs (paragraphs should be no less than 6 sentences) using the topics listed below to keep your paper organized.
Three Topic Paragraphs:
1. Define Alienation as described by Marx and list the four types.
2. In the next 4 paragraphs give an example of how you may have experienced alienation in the workplace or in school based on each of the types of alienation.
For example Alienation from the work itself: As a student in high school, the work I was charged to complete was not of interest to me. How I did the work, what I did, and the medium I used was forced on me.
My teachers could have offered options, or at the very least allowed the opportunity to deviate from their planned curriculum occasionally. For some of these reasons, I felt I was simply a cog in the machine called high school. I felt like I didn’t matter and the work I was assigned also didn’t matter. This is one of the few reasons why I ended up dropping out of school. I felt that the work I completed or didn’t complete was of no use. My original thoughts were not encouraged and my creativity was not welcomed.
3. Paragraph 5 – Close your essay by summarizing what you have learned about alienation. After reading the lecture notes/links, watching the video, posting and reading the discussion board posts, and reflecting on your work, how does learning about alienation make you a better person?
