Critical Essay
Essays should contain an introduction with a thesis, body, and conclusion
Your essay must be typed and double-spaced. Your critique (750+ words), should reflect concepts and ideas about an artifact. You should avoid using sources such as Wikipedia or unofficial sources online.
Your sources should be peer-reviewed journals, books, periodicals, reference books, and databases for research. You must use these resources for reference unless you have spoken with the instructor about your project. Critical essays should you use concepts learned in class and your writing should be clear and easy to follow. You must also use two concepts learned in class in your paper.
In addition, I will consider these elements in grading critical essays: citations, grammar, word usage, organization, punctuation, proper identification of terms, concepts and use of sources, sentence structure, and style. The purpose of writing these papers is to develop your research skills in critical analysis and thinking. You will write papers about appropriate and approved, films, pieces of art, music, architecture, etc. from genres or periods discussed in class. You want the work to be challenging, engaging, and fun, to gain intellectual and academic enrichment.
