Cover page and Introduction:
Your paper needs a cover page (see the example in the guidelines) and it opens with an introduction that sets the stage for the reader to better understand the overall experience of your internship.
Background:
Certification 4-8 science
taught 7th grade science 3 years
currently 9th grade biology
Graduated Lamar Univeristy with a Bachelors of arts and sciences
M.Ed in Adminstration (Current program)
Section A. Reflective Practice: SPED Accomidations in the classroom
The interns will share with others a brief paragraph on an event or circumstance where a significant new “eye-opening” learning experience about leadership / school administration occurred. This could be a new insight, belief, or disposition that was developed as a result of your leadership experience
Section B: Impact on Student Learning and/or Learning Environement:
The interns will share with others how they were able to increase student learning and/or improve the learning environment during the internship. Review your log and reflections and cite examples of actions taken that resulted in increased student learning and/or an improved learning environment. Examples would be classroom observation post conference, professional development presentation, book study, professional learning community work, or a host of other experiences. List five examples and briefly describe the activity and how this positively affected student learning and/or the learning environment.
Section C. School Improvement Recommendations:
The interns will share their ability to lead in school improvement. An intern has a very unique perspective on school leadership. From your perspective, develop a prioritized list of at least 5 recommendations for overall school improvement. The list may include recommendations for leaders, teachers, staff, parents, and/or community members. The list may also include recommendations for curriculum, instructions, assessment, discipline, or any other areas you believe can be improved and lead to greater student learning and satisfaction with the school experience. Provide a brief explanation of why each recommendation is needed and the expected result of its implementation
Section D. Ethical and Critical
Reasoning:
Interns will review their logs,
assignments, reflections, and practicum sharing board posts undertaken in
regard to ethical and critical reasoning. Post key learnings from the
experience and recommendations for better ethical practice in the schools.
Section E: Leading the Project
The purpose of this assignment is
to describe your experience in the role of leading the activities of the
coherent sequence of observation videos. The intern will submit a 1/2 – 1 page
report of the activities that you led during the observation activities.
The report should include:
Needs Assessment (school
demographics, problem addressed)
Description of the project
Goals of the project
Results/Findings from the project
Lessons learned on leading the
project
Section F: Social Justice
Briefly describe the degree of
social justice that you observed during your internship/practicum experiences
at your campus. Describe actions taken during the internship that
promoted an increase in social justice. Include recommendations for
school policy and/or practice to better address social justice.
Section G: Professional
Standards Assessment/Progress:
The purpose of this section is to
assess the degree of mastery of the national standards. This will guide your
further professional development as a leader. It is a longer than normal
assignment but very important. Complete a summary and evaluation of experience
for each of the seven NELP standards. One summary and evaluation for each
standard is required, regardless of the amount of time or number of activities
accomplished in the particular leadership standard. The summary and
evaluation of each standard should be approximately one-half page and
include the following:
a) Describe
the activities performed during the internship.
b) Describe
what was learned from the activities.
c) Describe
how learning can be used in the future.
d) Describe
what training, observations, or activities are needed to bring this identified
learning to the next level.
Refer to the Table of Contents in
your School Leader Intern text and cite the component number of activities from
each standard. For example, under NELP Standard 1, interns select activities from
NELP Component 1.1 and NELP Component 1.2. Review your log for completed activities and
summaries. Use the same process for each of the seven NELP Standards.
Section H: New Technologies:
The intern will briefly
describe experience and key learning in the areas of administrative technology
and technology for learning. Cite examples of your use of technology and what
you learned. Include areas needing further experience and training.
Conclusions
In
this section, the author of the report analyzes the previous sections of the
report and draws conclusions. The interns are asked to go deeper into the
understanding of their learning and focus on the following two guiding
questions:
What did you learn about
yourself?
What did you learn about
leadership?
The
answers to these questions are what interviewers and most importanty, what
those you will lead want to know – who is this person and what can I expect?
Hence, it is extremely important and deserves much thought and attention. It is
recommended that you organize your thoughts and limit this section to 1 – 1½
pages.
