In
2015, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a
violation notice to the Volkswagon Group for violating the Clean Air Act.
Cleverly, Volkswagon had created a device that could adjust emission controls
so as to pass laboratory emissions testing in order to meet EPA standards.
