my internship, I worked at KIPP NorthStar Academy, an elementary school serving students K-8. My primary responsibility was to shadow the
school social worker. I assisted with assessments and screenings, group
counseling, family support, and advocating for students in the classroom. Some
days, I worked one-on-one with a student, ensuring that they arrived on time
and participated actively in the classroom.

SOW 542-01 Comparative Racial/Ethnic Analysis 2 (I wrote a paper called the “Self-Identity Paper”
where I had to identify myself using one of the identity models. I chose the
Black Identity model and, in the paper, I also talked about my biases and how
they have affected me. My bias was towards the LGBTQ and white communities due
to my upbringing in an African household.My group and I created a PowerPoint presentation on the
origins and history of Latinx/Mexican and presented it to the class.)

Social Work Senior Practicum (I
am currently interning as a social worker at Family Alternatives. I am shadowing Keyana Donald and Darlene Riley, two experienced social workers. During my internship. My duties include conducting home visits, attending PSP meetings,
assisting with home studies, attending weekly staff meetings, attending
important events, and documenting everything using the SAM (FA database)
system. Along with this, I am also responsible for completing case notes and
other necessary documents.
Community Research and Advocacy (The focus of the class was to conduct research. As part of a
group project, I researched the African American Family
Preservation Act, a bill proposed by Esther Agbaje. Along with my two other
group members, we created a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation detailing the act. we were able to communicate the importance and potential impact of this bill effectively.
