Course Project: Company Process Improvement Analysis
General Description
To better understand the impacts of operations and quality management on business activities such as
customer service, economies, market share, new product launch, risk management, or supply chain design,
students will develop a final course project. Students will prepare a final project paper describing your plan to
improve a process or task in which your currently work or operate. This plan must be presented with a problem
statement and flowcharts. It should identify and explain in detail the process, including graphical
representations and flowcharts. This presentation will be a coherent utilization of operation management and
quality processes to quantify the magnitude of anticipated improvement (e.g. cycle time reductions, inventory
cost reductions).
Data depicting the results of the process improvement is required. You should be able to produce data and
present a data analysis that will be the basis for your recommendation. If data is not available, you may build on
an assumption basis and outline how such data could be obtained, what the data might be expected to reveal,
and how you would evaluate the success of the improvement project. In either case, be certain you provide a
detailed explanation of how you arrived at your conclusions and recommendations. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT YOU
QUANTIFY YOUR COST/BENEFIT ANALYSIS. The final project paper should be 12-15 pages in length.
Project Outline:
· Mission
· Strategy
· SWOT – (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats)
· Company Profile
· Process Narrative
· Current Process Flow Chart Narrative
· Problem Identification
· Benchmark/s – compare with similar processes in other companies/organizations
· New Proposed Process
· New Proposed Process Flow Chart
· Cost Benefit (Cost vs. Benefit Detailed)
· Recommendations
· Conclusion
Assignment Details
All sources must be included in the reference page with intext citations, all following the American Psychological
Association (APA) format The expected deliverable is to be submitted through the Turnitin link in Blackboard by
the due date and time. This assignment accounts for 30% of your final grade.
Course Project: Proposal
The final project planning and gathering data and is not something you can begin the last two weeks of the semester.
Each student should formulate a proposal, consisting of the problem statement, the proposed improvement the student
plans to address, and a process map (flowchart) of the existing process. This may change as you progress through the
project, but the proposal provides an opportunity for feedback. Many students identify good projects, but the scope may
be too large to complete for this course. This assignment accounts for 10% of the overall grade

eLearning site before 11:59pm on the due date. Intext citations are required will all sources used to in the analysis
listed at the end of the document using American Psychological Association (APA) format. The three case study analysis
will account for a total of 25% of the final grade.
