Write a critical analysis on Kate Chopins “The Story of an Hour”.
Use quotes from the literary work to illustrate the analysis and use the attached worksheet to develop your ideas for the essay.

This is the teachers note:
You do not and should not cite paraphrased information from the literary work–the primary source—in your essay (just directly quoted passages from the primary source must be cited). Because you have already introduced the work and its author in your opening paragraph, it is a given that you will be pulling examples from the work to address your points.
All information directly quoted or paraphrased from any outside (secondary) sources must be cited and the source included on the Works Cited page.
REMEMBER: This is not a book report or review. It is a critical analysis. Therefore, do not write a plot summary. Consider that your audience for a literary analysis is made up of other scholars like yourself who are already familiar with the literature about which you are writing. The analysis is your opinion on what themes or ideas can be found within the work and how the author brings these ideas to the readers. Your opinion is just as important as anyone else’s, so be proud of it. Use the language of analysis and examples and illustrative points from the work to support your position. Do not use phrases like “I think . . ., I believe . . . , in my opinion . . ., etc. because they will actually weaken your position. State your ideas with conviction and support them with sound evidence from the literary work and/or outside research.
