Graduate students will be required to conduct a Deviant Motivational Inventory. (10-20 pages) Each student must choose a singular sexual offender and complete the assignment based on a Description of the offense, Modus operandi of the offender, the Victimology and the Theoretical base of the Deviant Behavior. Appropriate cases will be discussed during the first class session. It is therefore recommended that students clear their subject selection with the instructor. This Report will consist of the following Elements and Sections; Introduction: Introduction and assignment statement Section #1 – Classification of the Subject/Offender This section will consist of a detailed and comprehensive description of the subject’s demographics, background, biography, and knowledge, skills, and abilities. ‘
This section will also include a description of the subject’s known basic family relations, social network, and any other known affiliations. (Based on available information). Section #2 – Inventory of Victims and Discussion of the Victimology This section will consist of an analysis of the known victims of the selected subject. or groups history and or past or historical actions or endeavors. This section should include a discussion of the Direct, Indirect, and Symbolic victims. Any early Gateway Crimes or Probing Criminal Behaviors should be listed and discussed.
Section #3 – Description of the Modus Operandi This section will consist of a Description of the displayed Method of Operation of the selected offender. This section should also include an assessment of the subject’s use of Criminal Logic and Approach Distance.
Section #4 – Theoretical Foundation / Application This section includes an application of one or more of the theories detailed in class.
Section #5 – Motivational Assessment This section will consist of a retrospective analysis of “Why” the subject engaged in the actions or crimes in question. This section should also include a description or discussion of the subject’s Cognition or Compulsion and the subject’s overall dangerousness or potency. Conclusion: Conclude the document with a Brief Discussion of what it all means
