Complete section 2 (Transportation) and section 8 (Community Support and Health Services) from the Checklist of Age-Friendly Features provided below produced by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) (http://www.phac-aspc.gc.ca/seniors-aines/alt-formats/pdf/publications/public/healthy-sante/age_friendly_rural/AFRRC_en.pdf).
Each group member should complete the checklist for an area of their choice. The completed checklists should be submitted as part of the appendices. Area: Little Rock Arkansas
Develop guidelines to help a city or perhaps a specific organization to design an age-friendly formal and informal care system (one page) and transportation system (one page). Be sure to indicate “who” the guidelines are for.
Use the results of the checklist to determine the strengthens and weaknesses in your own communities to incorporate into your guidelines. The different components or subheadings of the checklist, also discussed throughout the asynchronous material, may also be used to provide direction for key aspects you will want to consider in your design.
Assume that money and resources are not a concern.
What do you consider to be key variables?
How do the variables connect and interact?
How does everything come together to help explain or assess the related age-friendly domains?
Note: Your one-page guidelines should be attractive and not just a page of text or bullet points. Consider this to mimic a formal report that would be presented to a governing structure, such as city hall. There are various ways you can approach the design of your guidelines – you are being given the freedom to choose, just ensure that it is of academic merit.
