In essence you need to make a claim and then support it in your paper. Your thesis should not show what the film shows already..
Bad example: In the film 14 Kilómetros the director shows the trials immigrants face on their journey to Europe.
Good example: In this paper I will show/This paper shows how female immigrants endure hardships that are more intense than men. I use evidence from film 14 Kilómetros and Un franco, 14 pesetas as well as from outside sources to prove my point by first focusing on the experience of Violeta and Pilar and then comparing it with the experiences of men as well as anthropological data reflecting the experience of women immigrants.
This thesis is good because it makes an clear argument (females endure more). The argument is debatable (one can disagree with this claim). Lastly, it is a good thesis because it outlines a road-map of your paper.
Develop your thesis’ main points:
Write 2, 3, 4 paragraphs explaining in each a salient point of your thesis building one on another to prove your stance.
Each paragraph should have an introductory sentence, content, and a mini-conclusion.
Conclude:
Restate your thesis now proved by your essay.
Go back to your Thesis statement and revise it. Usually students figure out their thesis and write it better after they have written their conclusion.
Include a Works Cited page and quote in your paper at least one peer-reviewed article.
This doesn’t have to be directly on the film, but rather it can be on any topic of immigration, race, economics that you can connect with what you are trying to prove.
