Clinical Mental Health Assessment Due May 1, 2024
The student will be required to conduct a mental health assessment with a pseudo/volunteer client and then write a narrative. The student will be required to find a partner to complete the project. I would suggest selecting a classmate in this class however, it is not required. The report should include a thorough psychosocial history, mini-mental status exam & MSE information, risk assessment, diagnostic impressions, treatment recommendations, and any appropriate assessment data. The student should use all data to formulate a diagnostic impression(s) based on hypotheses. Treatment recommendations should help address the presenting problem of the client and should be based on all the information gathered during the interview (identification of client and significant others, presenting problem, mental status exam, diagnosis, medical issues and medication referrals, risk assessment, legal/ethical action, case management/referrals, prognosis modalities & frequencies, and evaluation perspective), as well as any assessment data. The student should make sure the report concludes with a summary, “diagnosis,” and recommendations for treatment or follow up. The grade for this project will reflect the comprehensiveness of the report, application, and integration of information and clarity of professional writing style. Please note: the report is based on fictitious information and should not include any identifying client information. Writing standards: the paper should be no more than six (6) pages double-spaced and written in APA style (7th ed.). As a graduate student, it is expected that the student has strong writing skills. Therefore, the report should be professionally written and be free from any grammatical and spelling errors. The finished product of this report is expected to be at the quality closely representative of a professional report. Do NOT print and complete a checklist as the narrative.
