Discussion Prompt: Sigmund Freud
Chapter 2 goes into great detail about the life and works of Sigmund Freud, particularly his ideas that have remained influential and foundational for studies on personality. After reading Chapter 2, complete the following for this week’s discussion:
- After reading Chapters 1 and 2 of your textbook, describe your understanding of Freud’s approach to personality theory and the major ideas of this theory.
- Explore how Freud’s personality theory relates to your own personality theory. How it is different? Which themes align with your personal personality/developmental experiences?
- Examine the information with a Biblical perspective and identify how it relates to a Christian worldview of humanity and development.
