Christopher Nolan’s historic thriller Oppenheimer was one of the best movies in 2023 and could easily win the Best Picture Oscar for the year. It is a biographic film about the development of the atomic bomb. The design and building of the atomic bombs was a secret operation called the Manhattan Project.
When President Roosevelt died in office April 12, 1945, his successor, President Truman learned about the Manhattan Project. When he assumed office, President Truman immediately faced how to end the war with Japan. After a successful test of the bomb near Los Alamos, New Mexico, Truman decided to use the new weapon if Japan refused to end the war by surrendering.
