Analyze a news article of your choice in relation to the framework of the global ethics materials you have been provided in the course to date, including referenced materials within the article. This option requires that you apply what you have learned to an article you choose. You will need to narrow the topic to something that will be interesting and you will need to select a topic that will provide the opportunity for reasoned discussion in relation to significant areas of global business ethics addressed in the class or readings. This assignment provides the opportunity to apply course materials to a recent real-world scenario, namely the recent global news article you have selected to present or to an industry of interest. In addition to theoretical considerations, additional aspects of your discussion may include logic fallacy/failings, cultural differences, how the situation may have been effectively prevented, and/or what alternate solutions may have existed once the situation arose. The paper should not be a summary of the article. Please use specific references from the reading and other course material to support your point(s)/position(s).

Individuals and industries are facing new ethical dilemmas in times of sustained challenge. Choose an industry in which you work or aspire to work. Consider the ethics approach of successful companies within the specific industry. Why is it successful? This should serve as a continuation of course readings and discussion, and comment on the material(s) we have studied to date. What future challenges do you anticipate (craft a well-supported prediction) given the current market? What key aspects of global ethical or unethical behavior are most likely to surface? Please do not simply summarize the articles or the class material. Cite specific course material to combine the threads from the literature while discussing what one might anticipate in the future of a given industry. How as a leader in industry do you get ahead of this problem? You may include industry-specific reputable literature in combination with course material. Course literature should dominate the discussion to evidence that you understand and can apply course material.
The fine print. The paper is limited to one and one half, 12-point font, normal margins, double spaced pages. Your references may be listed on a third page. Assignments, where the body of the paper is more than 1.5 pages, will not be accepted. I encourage you to consider the use of a partner for collaborative idea generation, writing peer support, and help fine-tune your notions in relation to complex topics. Resist the temptation in this very short paper to state the obvious — that the company was bad in a situation where it should have been good or to simply provide a summary of the events. You will need to choose the items/aspects you feel are most relevant, then support these points. Cite all ideas (whether in quotes or not). You may not use AI, Chegg or similar sites (academic integrity issue). A comprehensive reference to specific relevant course material including theory, written material, agency recommendations, policy or laws, will be rewarded in terms of points.

Assessment:
Demonstrate and clearly articulate the ability to apply global ethics theory and concepts. Use extensive class material (and cite it). COB rubrics and the assignment criteria will be used in the assessment.
