choose a position and remain strong within that choice. Your thesis should be concrete and definitive (it MUST be a statement, not a question). Must be at least four to five pages in length NOT including the Works Cited page
Must be MLA formatted (proper heading, page numbering, double-spaced, etc…)
First person narrative is NOT allowed for this essay (any instance or use referring to yourself: “I”, “my”, “me”, etc…)
Write about LaoTzu’s “Tao-Te Ching”
MUST include at least two other resources besides the textbook(I am providing one).
Avoid using the introductory clause “In conclusion” to begin your last paragraph.
This type of clause is typically more appropriate for essays ranging ten pages or more.
Your thesis statement SHOULD NOT be a question – it must be definitive statement with a subject and significance (typically at the end of the first paragraph)

Choose one of the articles/essays we’ve read thus far and present an essay that agrees or disagrees with the author’s thesis and assertions
Examine and discus HOW what techniques of persuasion are used and how they are delivered – provide quotes from the text as examples
Your essay will either agree or disagree with the rhetoric or argument of your chosen text and writer. If in agreement explain why and use supporting quotations from the essay itself. If in disagreement then utilize quotes from the piece and explain logical fallacies, fault in reasoning, or how the writing fails to present the issues effectively.
