GUIDE TO CASE ANALYSIS
Case studies are designed to test your ability to apply theory that you have learned through our course to (real or hypothetical) situations. We are not looking for a set of “correct” facts and interpretations in your case analysis but demonstration of your ability to reason well
with available information. There may be a few feasible strategies that a leader might adopt for the same situation. However, your assignment is to present as many alternatives as
possible, weigh their pros and cons, and determine which alternative provides the most
benefit or less damage to the leader’s organization.
Analysis Format:
Begin with a short description of the background of the case.
Identify the primary issues that blend the problem.
State your one or more alternative solutions to the problem by providing adequate background.
Use concepts, theories, and/or empirical evidence reported in the textbook and lectures to provide a framework for your analysis and answer questions listed at the end of each case.
