Case Assignment
In the world of business, the high rate of employee turnover can be a significant problem. Economic research suggests that for some industries it can cost up to one-fifth of an employee’s annual salary to find, train, and hire a suitable replacement. If turnover rates are too high, this represents a significant sunk cost for the company that cannot be recouped. Luckily, by improving the environment at work, practicing smart hiring strategies, and ensuring that your company is optimally-organized, it is possible to keep turnover at a healthy minimum.
After reviewing the video about employers reducing employee turnover, use the strategies described in the video to create an employee retention plan that you can present to your current employer. Your PowerPoint presentation, with audio voiceover, will have at least 12 slides, not counting the cover slide, questions slide, or reference slide. Support your research with three references that include at least one reference from a peer-reviewed academic journal or text book found in Trident University’s online library.
NOTE: Younger workers today want to see PowerPoint presentations that contain “5 words and a picture” on each slide. The pictures cannot be clip art, as these younger workers also want to see pictures of real people. In addition, they want the people to be employees of the company covered in the presentation. Be sure to ask permission of anyone whose picture you take!
Limit your slide content to main points with appropriate artwork. The verbiage of your audio files should be typed onto the notes part of the slides, as pictured below:
You can read off your notes while you record the slide’s audio. TIP: Save the file as the slide number, such as Slide 4.
Support your research with three references found in Trident University’s online library that include at least one reference from a peer-reviewed academic journal or textbook.
Submit the presentation through the appropriate Dropbox by the due date. Your submission will be graded with the assignment’s grading rubric.
(If you are not currently employed, select a company with which you are familiar and create an employee retention plan for that company. For pictures of employees, just take pictures of any people who give you permission to use their picture in your assignment.)
Once you have proofread your presentation and reviewed the assignment’s Grading Rubric, submit it to the appropriate Dropbox by midnight Sunday of the 2nd week of Module 4—the last day of the term.
