Binghamton Zoo – (150 points)
Your assignment is to develop a fundraising development plan for your client, the Binghamton Zoo, as described in the case purchased through the Harvard Coursepack. The link to purchase the Harvard Coursepack is in the syllabus.
I am expecting a report that is well written. You should proofread your paper for spelling and syntax before turning it in. Finally, I am expecting that everyone turn in original work. OSU uses software which can detect plagiarism, so please only turn in your own work.
The fundraising development plan should be focused on what the nonprofit says in the case is its greatest need or its greatest fundraising weakness, whether that is operating funding, capital needs, endowment, special event, annual giving, major gifts, a campaign or smaller project. You should also make an assessment of the organization and what areas it may need created or improved upon in fundraising based on your acquired knowledge from this course. In comparing these assessments you will arrive at your target areas for planning/creating.
The written report should be presented from the point of view that you are presenting this document to convince the board members of the Binghamton Zoo to adopt your ideas for the fundraising & development plan. It should contain a case statement describing the nonprofit and the funding need and should “make the case” for contributing. It must also contain a detailed description of the plan of action for raising the required funds. The plan should be of sufficient detail to show the thought process you went through in developing it, fundraising methods considered, funders to be targeted (and why) and the people to be involved. The intent of this project is to require you to use much of what you will be learning in the course in order to develop a real world fundraising plan. Have fun!!!!
Project components:
◆ Description and history of NPO,

◆ Summary of current fundraising plan.
◆ Two target fundraising areas defined + internet/social media presence
◆ Cases of support for giving, long general version and short version
◆ Graphics, detailed plans, timelines, purpose & goals of each fundraising strategy
