For the “example experience”, please make up an experience. Maybe make it related to teaching (I teach middle school). But honestly I don’t care. Just be very specific please, the teacher likes specificity. I’ll include some links to the topics she discussed for this assignment at the very bottom. I’ve also attached the assignment rubric and the learning objectives from this assignment.
Assignment instructions:
Now that you have learned about culture and innovation, using your own work experience as an example, explain an example where the culture of the organization and those around you hindered an innovation opportunity. Maybe this was an idea you had, an opportunity in the market place, a team member’s idea, etc. that was hindered due to “this is the way we’ve always done it” or perhaps outdated policies, procedures, regulations, mindsets, cliques, misusing power, or even employees having hidden agendas, etc.
1. Explain the culture of the company overall as a company. The Pros and Cons. (1 paragraph business style writing)
2. Identify 2 pairs of Norms/Values with the company. List each as follows:
Pair 1 Norm;
Pair 1 Value;
Agreement (High or Low) why/how?
Intensity (High or Low) why/how?
Pair 2 Norm;
Pair 2 Value;
Agreement (High or Low) why/how?

3. Identify – What was the innovation idea/opportunity. (1 paragraph business style writing)
4. Identify – Explain the situation – where the culture of the organization and/or those around you hindered an innovation opportunity (1 paragraph, business style). This requires course content as support.
5A. Analysis – Focusing on the learning materials from Modules 1-3, what was missing that hindered the innovation idea/opportunity and how did it impact the overall goal and/or strategy? Be sure to use proper in-text sourcing and referencing NOTE: You need at least 2 concepts. That is a minimum. You should have more)
5B. Analysis – Focusing on the learning materials from Modules 4, what was missing that hindered the innovation idea/opportunity and how did it impact the overall goal and/or strategy? 6. Application – Now, given everything you learned and thinking back across all 4 modules – Apply what you’ve learned! (use Modules 1-4) Assuming you were in complete control, you are now in complete control and are the Leader in charge of designing a change management plan to implement the innovation you described by changing the culture to be accepting of this innovation/change opportunity as well as others that might come your way.
NOTE: This answer should the largest portion of your paper and VERY detailed and in-depth.
6A -Would you use Theory E or O, both – why/how?
6B – Using either the 4 or 8 step plan design a change plan that specifically addresses ALL the issues (1 at a time) you discovered in Q5A/Q5B. Be specific and address EACH issue identified somewhere within the 4 or 8 steps.
IMPORTANT: Support your entire plan, you MUST address each issue in Q5A/B and each step in the plan and support both with course material, in-text source and reference. You WILL NEEED TO USE CONCEPTS FROM ALL 4 MODULES. Hint: Powers, Leadership, Motivations, Teams, 3Cs, Environment, Talent, Process, Strategic Direction, etc.
