Exploring the Role of Forensic Nurse Examiners/Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners
For my final paper, I have chosen Forensic Nurse Examiner/Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (FNE/SANE) as my research topic. I am especially encouraged by providing care to victims of sexual assault, which is one of the types of cases that demand immediate attention with services tailored to the victims.
My study leads to objectives about different areas of FNE/SANE roles. I intend to have a primary focus on specific training and qualifications for this position following the requirements of the International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) (Silva et al., 2021). Reading the essential details and understanding the intricacies of the training would give an idea of the specific knowledge and skills necessary for good job performance. Secondly, I will expand the comprehension of FNEs/SANEs’ working position, which includes assessing and managing the adult, adolescent, and pediatric victims of sexual assault (Berishaj et al.,2020). Therefore, procedures and strategies for collecting evidence and documentation will be identified, and medical care will be given compassionately.
Besides, I will study the role of FNEs/SANEs and collaboration with law enforcement and legal institutions, which may improve the outcomes for the victim and the conviction rate. I will further explain the FNE/SANE position in total, providing reasons in the area of ethics. Ethics is based on professionalism, justice, advocacy, and confidentiality for the sexually assaulted victim. Exploring the ethical strategies of FNEs/SANEs for solving these ethical dilemmas will help them better understand their moral functions and the challenges they face in this role.
I plan to accomplish my goal by focusing on the fundamental areas of the FNE/SANE role, which involve the clinical, legal, ethical, and professional dimensions. This paper studies the multilayer phenomenon in the forensic field and the various technologies used to operate them. The study will assist me in generating a broader view that will help me understand the importance of forensic nurses in managing issues of sexual assault and defending victims.
