Below are 2 submissions that answered the same question.
Please answer to each submissions separately. The question they’re answering is: “What is the difference between a person who is an immigrant, a person who is a refugee, and an undocumented person?”
Submission 1 Hakima:
It’s essential to recognize the distinctions between immigrants, refugees, and undocumented people, since each group has unique situations and legal statuses:
Newcomers frequently follow a formal immigration procedure, including applying for visas, green cards, or other legal documents that permit them to live and work in the destination country. People usually move to another country for more job opportunities, family reunions, or a higher standard of living.
A refugee is a person who has been given refugee status in another nation after fleeing their own country due to persecution, war, or violence. Fear of violence or persecution makes it difficult or impossible for refugees to return to their own country.
International law protects them, particularly the 1951 Refugee Convention and its 1967 Protocol, which specify the rights and obligations of refugees and the receiving nations.
Refugees undergo a different legal process for resettlement that may involve background checks and interviews to determine their refugee status.
The U.S. government resettles refugees through the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP), which includes screening, vetting, and interviewing done overseas by U.S. government agencies and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
After being granted entry into the country, refugees are supported by government-funded resettlement organizations to aid their integration into American culture, job and housing searches, and access to essential services.
An undocumented individual, sometimes referred to as an unlawful immigrant or undocumented immigrant, is a person who lives in a nation without proper documentation.
They could have overstayed a visa, entered the nation illegally, or disregarded the conditions of their admission.
People without documentation frequently lead hidden lives and encounter significant obstacles while getting necessities like healthcare and education.
Submission 2 Nataly:
First it is important to understand the workings of the American social welfare system. As it also is important to understand the dynamics of immigrant integration into the American life while it is also helpful to look at the policies of other countries. It is also important to investigate the role it has in the international community and economics markets. Immigrants are people who choose to emigrate to a new country and relocate there. Refugees are people who leave their countries of origin to escape political turmoil or persecution. Immigrants were the first settlers who made their own choice to live in America. An immigrant’s life is hard because it consists of leaving one’s home and adjusting to a new land. An undocumented immigrant or also known as an illegal alien is a person without the proper documents proving that he or she has legally entered the United States. However, the term “illegal alien” can be considered offensive as an alien is an alien is an abnormal, hostile being who comes from another world. Therefore, the proper term would be “unauthorized”. When one is working with an immigrant group it is important to understand that one should be culturally sensitive to the most preferable term and be aware that it can be perceived as offensive to refer to people as illegal aliens.
