BASIC INSTRUCTIONS:
Write a well-organized evaluation essay of the TED talk “War, AI and the New Global Arms Race” by Alexandr Wang. The evaluation should include an introduction, a summary of the talk, an evaluation of the content and delivery, and a conclusion that sums up your overall impression. Sources should be cited and properly integrated throughout the essay.
GOAL:
to analyze and evaluate the TED talk, so its important to back up opinions with evidence and critical thinking.
AVOID PITFALLS IN THE ESSAY.
WRITING THE ESSAY:
evaluate the content, delivery, and overall impact of the “War, AI and the New Global Arms Race”. Consider the following questions:
1) what was the speaker’s main point, and did they effectively communicate it?
2) Did the speaker use example or evidence to support their point? Were they persuasive?
3) Was the speaker engaging and clear in their delivery?
4) Did the talk have an impact on your thinking or worldview? If so, how?
USE SCHOLARLY SOURCES:
attached the scholarly source i picked.
ESSAY REQUIREMENTS:
1) 1,200 – 1,500 words. Word count starts at first word of the first paragraph and ends at the last word in the last paragraph.
2) Primarily third person voice. Some first-person voices are appropriate, but do not over rely on it. Avoid second person voice.
3) Follow standard essay format, but also include a summary paragraph. The first paragraph
should be dedicated to the introduction, include the thesis, and forecast statement. The second paragraph should be an unbiased summary of the TED Talk. The other body paragraphs should support the thesis with three to four main points. (Keep in mind that while
you should never discuss more than one main idea in any given paragraph, you may discuss
one idea for multiple paragraphs). The final paragraph should be dedicated to a thoughtful
conclusion that moves beyond summary of your main ideas.
3) These are source-based papers, and therefore must include a Works Cited page and utilize in- text citations according to the guidelines of the MLA 9th edition. You must cite both the TED Talk you are evaluating and the additional required scholarly source you are using.
