Analyze a case study (to be assigned) and address questions regarding how you would respond to the issue.
Select any ONE of the Case Studies below and respond to the following questions:
Q1. Based on relevant theory in the field, what steps could a leader take to adapt or change the organization to address to the situation? Cite theorists in the field that support the perspective and course of action (at least 2 relevant citations).
Q2. Identify 2 potential problems/barriers to implementing the course of action recommended above. For each, what is one specific, evidence-based strategy that can assist with the problem? Cite research references to support your response (at least 4 relevant citations).
Q3. Describe an avenue for future research on the issue, stating (a) a Research Question; (b) Methodology for Research; (c) Sample; and (d) Method of Data Collection.
Case 4: Higher Education
You are an Assistant Dean in the College of Arts and Sciences at Nueveau University, which is a small, private university in a rural area of Pennsylvania. The University serves students within the region and is not very academically competitive. A few faculty are noted researchers and engaged with national organizations, but the majority are primarily involved with teaching and service in the region. The enrollment of Nueveau University has been declining due to movement of families out of the area, and competition from an expansion of State university campuses across the region. Neuveau faculty and staff are very dedicated, and willing to take on new initiatives to keep the institution solvent.
Nueveau has decided to move toward online programs in History and Political Science to increase enrollment and expand their reach to new markets. After some internal research, they determined that these areas could most easily be transferred to an online format, as they are heavily text-dependent and the faculty are more technologically comfortable as compared with some other majors. The University acquired an online platform and a marketing partner, but they did not communicate much with faculty in making their final decision, relying instead on information from other similar universities and operating within budgetary constraints.
You are tasked with working with the faculty and administrators in the areas of History and Political Science to develop a plan for implementation of an online version of 6 courses in each area that comprise an academic major.
