SUMMARY
Understanding applied research will enable you to be more effective advocates of programs you are supporting in working or volunteer capacities. Outside of the behavioral health fields, understanding good research methodology can be applied to any industry to help better identify and tell the story of community need and impact of services, while supporting quality improvement efforts.

For this multi-part Research Project, you will identify a research question relevant to the field of psychology, analyze qualitative and quantitative methodology, and write an executive summary that proposes the research plan.

Each assignment builds off the others, walking you through each step of the research process. The research you read will provide the strongest examples of each assignment type. The focus of each assignment is application of the principles learned this class, not recitation of facts or even other research points.

APA style must be used on all assignments. Be sure to avoid even unintentional plagiarism. At the same time, you may re-use some of what you wrote in each section for later assignments, if applicable.

Be sure to adapt them to the specific requirements of the assignment and to edit based on instructor feedback.

Note: Please review the previous students’ papers as these assignments are often a new approach for many. These sample papers will help guide your work. No paper is perfect, and not all of them met all requirements or were formatted properly, but the basic structure and content should give a better idea of what is expected. The students’ names have been redacted for privacy.
