Nutrition Scientific Research Reviews – Nutrition in Health and Disease:
Research paper. Limit your discussions to 4-6 pages, typed, double spaced. Grammar, spelling and punctuation will be considered in the grading of all written work. Submit through Canvas.
Read and summarize one published, peer-reviewed research paper on health and nutrition of interest to you. The article must come from peer-reviewed journals, such as the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Journal of the American Dietetic Association, Journal of the American Medical Association, etc. (Ask me if you need to clarify this.) PubMed is often useful for finding papers to analyze. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
An original research paper reports an experiment in which a specific research goal is stated and tested experimentally.
A review paper combines and summarizes the findings of several original research papers to draw a more general conclusion. Reviews are common but they are not original research since they only report what others have found. A meta-analysis is another example of this approach. Do not use review papers.
Your report must restate the research paper in your own words. Of course, you must use scientific jargon. But, remember: do not be too close to your sources. That means cutting and pasting is severely limited. Your submission will be screened by TurnItIn.com . Maximum TurnItIn % should be less than 25%.

First impression of the paper, should be clear and concise. Include relevant background information on the topic. State how research fills gaps in the existing research. Focus on the specific problem they are addressing, along with its possible solutions, and outline possible limitations of the study.

This is the part of the paper that explains how the research was done. Briefly relate research procedures in a clear, logical order. Refer to the methods used.

Results
Now that you’ve explained the research protocol, you report the main findings of the research. You need not include too many details. While writing this section, be consistent and use the smallest number of words necessary to convey statistics.
Discussion
Discussion
In this section, you interpret findings for the reader. Present general conclusions, including the strengths and weaknesses of the research and the implications of findings. Resolve the hypothesis and/or research question identified in the introduction.

Conclusion
This section is sometimes included in the last paragraph of the discussion. Explain how the research fits the proposal.

References
List citation information for each source used (i.e., author names, date of publication, title of paper/chapter, title of journal/book, and publisher name and location). Only one source is required but others may be used if you like.
1000 words, 2-4 pages is usually adequate. Not counting title page or bibliography. Remember, Turnitin is used, so do not cut and paste. Jargon will be used but explain in your own words. Watch for a Turnitin score of <25%

In the paper, you will present an overview of some aspect of nutrition, perhaps including historical precedents as well as future directions. Be sure that the paper reflects this Nutrition class. “AVOID RECYCLED PAPERS”. Read comment on plagiarism. The paper should be 4-6 pages of writing, (this doesn’t count the other stuff like title page and references), use several sources if you like, in APA format (including a title page, references, etc.). See the syllabus for due date. Submit through Canvas.
