Assignment Purpose and FocusWrite a seven-page research paper that is an argument or analysis of a medical humanitiestopic. While synthesizing different perspectives from research will be an important part of thepaper, it will also be important to include your opinion or analysis. When you are making anargument, you can help your audience understand the importance of an issue they might nothave considered, try to change their beliefs, or propose a policy. An analysis/evaluation criticallyapproaches a topic to think through the various merits/drawbacks of an issue or brings to lightsubtleties of an issue that a casual reader might not have considered.Topic parameters: Must include one of the two memoirs we read this semester and one of thearticles from Perusall 5.1 in a way that makes sense for the paper. Much of your paper due inweek five will be incorporated into this paper.Your audience: Your professor: someone who is highly educated, but likely not on your topic.Pretend that I have not read the memoir that you are incorporating.Academic Honesty/ChatGPT/Recycling papers I know that 99% of you are honest folks invested in your learning, so I’m sorry the tone ofthis is rather forceful. Please do read it carefully so that you understand the policies forthis class. Assignments without parenthetical citations throughout, direct quotations, linksto the sources and a works cited won’t be accepted. It must be clear where all ofthe information in the paper came from (including page numbers); err on theside of overciting if in doubt. It is also academically dishonest to reuse a paper from another course (even one youwrote!) without permission from both instructors. Since this a class designed to teachwriting and research, reusing a previously written paper is not allowed.Additional requirements: 7-8 pg paper not counting works cited page MLA style of citation Uses 6-7 credible, relevant sources, primarily from Gannon’s databases unless your topicsuggests the web is a better place to look (the memoir and Perusall article are counted inthis number).
