Assignment Instructions:
This assignment consists of two parts. Part 1 requires a response of 300 words or less, while Part 2 should be 3-5 pages long. Each part should be submitted on separate pages.
Part One:
1-1 Discussion: Identifying a Research Focus
For this segment, students will choose and discuss a potential topic and research questions for their upcoming capstone project, laying the groundwork for Part 2.
In the initial discussion post, students should:
– Select the focus of their capstone project.
– Justify their topic selection.
– Specify the target audience and their specific needs.
– Identify stakeholders involved in the project.
– Propose potential research questions.
– Depending on the nature of the problem being addressed:
– For research problems: Describe the knowledge gap to be addressed.
– For applied problems: Describe the issue and propose an intervention.
The objective is to refine the chosen topic for a research project capable of contributing to theory or addressing real-world issues, such as enhancing psychological well-being.
Part Two:
2-2 Milestone One: Gathering Resources
Following the discussion in Part One, students will submit a paper presenting a collection of potential peer-reviewed resources for their research proposal.
Students should:
– Collect potential peer-reviewed resources.
– Summarize the literature in a 3-5 page paper, integrating relevant literature into their research questions or intervention.
– Include the following critical elements in the submission:
– Well-defined research questions or intervention, with an explanation of their significance in psychology.
– Explanation of the significance of the chosen topic and research/intervention within the field of psychology.
– Summary of the literature, identifying the main arguments supporting the research questions or intervention.
– Summary of each article.
– Discussion of how each resource supports the purpose of the research questions or intervention.
– Assessment of sources specific to research questions, including author credentials, arguments, objectivity, persuasiveness, and conclusions.
– Analysis of sources, including methodology, strengths, weaknesses, and their impact on understanding the intervention or research questions.
– Development of a conclusion that ties together the addressed literature and reiterates the connection to research questions and the main argument.
– Ensure clear articulation in the response, free from major errors related to citations, grammar, spelling, syntax, or organization.
Submission Requirements:
– Submit a 3-5 page Word document with double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, one-inch margins, and at least three sources cited in APA format.
