Assignment Instructions
Purpose: To consider what ethical responsibilities managers have to their firm and employees, their customers, the community, their families and to themselves.
Read the case titled Desperate Air and compose a three-page (double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman) statement of what you would do if you were in Mr. Nash’s situation with careful consideration of the following prompts
Prompt 1: Note similarities to the ethical dilemma illustrated in the Seglin article and the RDCAR process.
Prompt 2:
a. Are there special principles you wish to consider in making this decision?
b. What would a person of my character (or my firm) do in this case?
c. How is value created by my choice?
Prompt 3: Consider Kohlberg’s Model of Cognitive Moral Development outlined in chapter 3 of our text (pages 77-84)
a. What stage best characterizes Mr. Nash?
b. Where does your own action plan fit into Kohlberg’s model?
