Your Name Management Plan

*Please note – Throughout our course you will be creating and adding information to the Classroom Management Plan that you are creating. There will be a total of 6 Sections in your Classroom Management plan by the time you complete our course.
I highly recommend that you create one Word Document and then each week add the required section that is listed in the Module directions. (So by the end of our course you will have one document that has all 6 sections of your Classroom Management plan).
Mapping a classroom often gives one insight into the nature of the student-teacher interaction. Think about a classroom you have observed in person or in videos and make a sketch of the teacher’s classroom and have and then trace the teacher’s traffic patterns during the lesson.
Consider the following questions for mapping.
Where did the teacher spend the most time? Least time? Were any students ignored? Were there specific reasons for little or no teacher interaction with these students?
Did the classroom arrangement influence the teachers’ movement? What changes need to be made in the walking pattern? What changes, if any, would you make in the classroom arrangement?
Assignment Directions:
Create a Classroom arrangement map, or maps for different types of activities. The map should include a student seating arrangement, teacher desk, centers area, resources, displays, etc. You should include a written explanation of your choice of arrangement(s). Create your map using computer software for visuals.
Explain one map, and explain one type of activity, and how it will work.
For example, if you create a map on a variety of different classroom learning centers, explain how students will move around the classroom and how the classroom will be arranged. Or if you create a detailed classroom map, describe one learning activity and how it will work with the classroom arrangement.
Create a List Classroom Rules — Describe how are they arrived at? Describe What they include? How are they communicated to students, parents, administrators, etc.? What is your policy about the hall passes?
Part 3 of the Management plan addresses “Classroom Instructional Procedures.” This section includes responses to some specific questions.
The first 6 questions are focused on teaching plans and procedures. One question addresses how you incorporate multiple intelligence (differentiated instruction) in your classroom. The last question focuses on your assessment policies. There is useful information in the videos and readings included in the videos and readings section.
Make sure to label and answer each question.
Classroom Instructional Procedures
· How are your lessons structured?
· How do your lessons start and finish?
· How do you teach in a large group setting? (ideas to include in your response: teacher-centered or student-centered, how would you check for student understanding, classroom management strategies)
· How do you divide students into small group instruction or for a circle time?
· What strategies do use to get their attention back to lesson and you?
· How would you pace your lesson?
· What are your strategies to use multiple intelligences in your lessons to meet the needs of all students? Give an example. How do you plan to assess and share results with students? Do you plan to share graded tests at the start of a class or the end of the class? Do you plan to post scores on the class portal? Do you plan to make the assessment available to parents? Why or why not?
Section 4 of the management plan is titled “Communication Plan and Miscellaneous Policies.”
You have discussed many of these in Module 4 case studies and discussion. Now it is your turn to transfer those ideas into handouts and policies. For Item A – E, write a brief description and attach a sample of the product. For example, for item A, describe what will be included in the news bulletin and attach an example of the bulletin.
A. Example of Weekly News Bulletin
B. Examples of monthly newsletter
C. Makeup work policy
D. Grading Procedures
I. percentage for homework,
II. classwork
III. class participation
IV. quizzes
V. tests
VI. lab or projects (middle and high school)
If Iv and V do not apply in pre-schools and kindergarten, you simply state that for
the section unless, you plan to include anecdotal or oral questioning as evidence
for these two areas.
E. Safety Plan
Include anything from fire drill to lock down safety issues and examples of the handouts/ posters.
Once you have organized A – E with handouts in one document, you can submit
it in the box after the assignment. This assignment is due on Sunday.
Management Plan_ Section 5
This is the part where you bring all strategies together to develop a detailed student behavior management plan.
a. A description and examples of how you intend to encourage and respond to positive student behavior (examples, selecting students of the week, or sending a congratulatory note home).
b. A detailed plan for students that are behaving negatively in your class.
c. Describe multiple techniques are you going to use to maximize the effectiveness of your classroom management?
You should refer/include specific techniques that have been addressed by the authors, discussed in the course or in videos.
