May 22, 2024

As a social worker at a local agency, your social work practice may lead to networking with practitioners and advocates working with policies at multiple levels that affect a specific population. For example, social workers who have experience serving specific populations may also be asked to serve as subject matter experts in the delivery of social services to these groups. Agencies and organizations regularly create and maintain toolkits to share on their websites with the public that serve to improve policies related to social justice and access to social services for specific populations.
For this assessment, you will continue to work with the example population you selected for your Wk 3 Summative Assessment: Generalist Practice Presentation.
Assessment Deliverable
Develop a 1,050- to 1,400-word toolkit that serves as a resource guide for social work practitioners and community members as if you were a social worker at an agency that hosts a website advocating for the social justice needs of the selected population. Include the following information supported by evidence from your research:
Introduction to [Social Justice Issue for Population]: Summarize the characteristics of the selected population and the relevant social justice issues they face. Give at least 2 examples of inequities experienced by this population and justify the need for a resource toolkit for advocates. Define at least 1 key term relevant to social justice issues for this population that advocates should know when promoting social services.
Social Welfare Policy Analysis: Summarize 2 existing social welfare policies that have attempted to advance social justice and equality for this population. Explain at least 2 policy priorities that should be legislated to advance equality, rights, and inclusion of this population. Explain how these policy priorities can enhance access to and delivery of social services.
Social Justice and Service Delivery: Explain at least 2 strategies that social workers can use when supporting clients from this population to promote empowerment and address power imbalances in the working relationship. Explain at least 2 strategies that can be used to address microaggressions and build rapport when working with this population to improve the efficacy of service delivery.
Service Delivery Resources: List links to public and private resources that your audience can reference and explain how each resource supports the delivery of social services to the target population in your area. Ensure the list of resources includes:
At least 2 local nonprofit organizations operating within your community, such as human service organizations, local coalitions, or advocacy groups
At least 2 national organizations that work to address the social justice needs of the population
At least 2 videos or infographics introducing the target social justice issue(s) that show an overview of the social injustices experienced by this population
Cite the textbook and at least 2 scholarly sources in sections 1–3 of your toolkit. Include citations for the resources listed in section 4. Format citations according to APA guidelines.
Format your toolkit as a website, resource guide, or newsletter that an agency could put on their website. Use the same headings listed above to organize and label the sections of your toolkit for easy reference. You may use Microsoft Word or Publisher, Canva, or another tool approved by faculty to compile your toolkit.
Submit your assessment.
